Abstract: We shall report recent progress on the study of Riesz transform and its fractional version, functional spaces on exterior domains. Previously such problems were well understood in cases of bounded domains and upper half type spaces. Motivated by questions from PDEs (elliptic and parabolic, and Schrodinger type), we perform a systematic study of these questions on exterior domains and discuss its applications. We also present some related questions.
